Let Us Make Man in Our Image

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

This is the very first verse in the Bible.  It tells us that God “was”, before anything was made and what He made in the beginning.   God made the heavens.  The Word “Heavens” are plural.  And then He made the Earth.  There are many stars and planets, galaxies, universes that are in the heavens, but He mentioned Earth as it is something He created special.  From here God goes into detail about how special he made Earth and why.  God made the Earth and everything therein beautiful. He made it perfectly just for us. He saw that it was good.  Then in Genesis 1:26 He said “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”  When He states “Let Us” He is referring to himself.  (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) He molds a shape from the earth of His image. But the real likeness is when He takes the body He molds from the ground and breathes His very life into it.  So, we are made in His perfect image, inside and out.  Our physical bodies will one day be returned back to the dust it came from, but our true spiritual body will continue to live forever.  We are truly made in His image.  This is not by any means a smaller, cheaper version as the devil would want you to believe.  You are a fully complete, beautiful masterpiece made like God in more ways than you think.

John 4:24 states, “God is a spirit, and they that worship Him must worship him in spirit and truth.”  God of all there is, a spiritual being, created you to be a spiritual being, like Him.  You are a spiritual being first.  All of us are spirits as a true form.  We are for a while in a temporary body, but we are all spiritual beings.  A spirit being visiting humanity for a while.

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Psalms 139:13-14 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb, I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made, your works are wonderful.  I know that full well.”  This means you were made with very much care and thought concerning every aspect of your life and future.   No mistakes, no faults.  Made in His Love!

Paul talks in Romans 13:11, “And do this, understanding the present time.  The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.”  Many think this verse is talking about when you accepted Jesus in your heart, or when you had an experience with the Holy Spirit during your lifetime here.  But the very first place you believed and knew the love of God was before he created the foundations of the Earth.

It is so important that you know who you are.  And just as vital that you know who you are not!  You are not a product of this world.  You were not created to get sick and be overtaken with death.  You were created to bring life and goodness to this world and to others. God has given you the means to do this through Jesus.  Jesus even said you would do more than He did in this world.

John 14:12, “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing.  He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”

Consider these words and let them melt deep into your soul. Lets continue in His love! I pray you learn more everyday about your true identity, and start to walk in who you are.  It is never too late to learn!   It is never too late to have that close relationship with your Daddy God!  Hallelujah!
